Yes... we've been around since 1995 as ScreenPlay InterActive (SPIA), when most people were not yet on-line and the Internet was this thing many people heard about but didn't really appreciate. Founded by a couple of MBA's with stubborn ideas about doing things the way the client wants it done, we were there, turning out web sites and getting our feet wet in other forms of multimedia. We did print work such as ads and brochures as well, but it wasn't too long before “big” agencies asked us to do work for their clients, including marketing strategy and brand development.
Next, Yahoo was the buzz and everyone tried their hand at web design. We kept at it, especially for the bigger agencies that hadn't yet developed in-house capabilities, but we really turned to multimedia as a fun and effective marketing tool. A short time after that, we developed a presence in the interactive kiosk market and grew that part of the business through a bunch of innovative systems like product activated kiosks and ones that emit fragrance and generate buzz via (shall we dare to say) social marketing a.k.a.- word of mouth.
We kept at the kiosks, building a reputation for high quality custom software and hardware design and attracting Fortune 500 companies almost exclusively. Those companies came with big demands and high expectations and that was great! Every challenge forced us to push ourselves, listen, learn, innovate and ultimately make us better marketers and designers. Thank you big guys!
Still, other agencies wanted us to keep delivering Internet, interactive, print, and marketing concepts for their clients. Then it really hit home: we need our own in-house dedicated marketing agency that focuses every waking moment on our own client's needs and builds on our own client's success. Poof! SPIA Media Group was born!
